Management of bile duct injuries: comparative study between Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy and primary repair with stent placement
نویسنده
چکیده
Introduction Bile duct injury (BDI) represents a serious and challenging surgical complication. These complex injuries are most often a consequence of laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) [1] and are still a major problem in current surgical practice. BDI is associated with reduced survival, increased morbidity, and poor quality of life [2,3]. It is not clear whether the injury should be repaired immediately or the repair should be delayed [4].

T-tube bridging for the management of biliary tree injuries
BACKGROUND Injuries of the biliary tree, which mainly occur as a complication of laparoscopic cholecystectomy, are a potentially life threatening cause of high morbidity and mortality. The reported frequency of biliary injuries after laparoscopic cholecystectomy is from 0.5-0.8%. Such injuries may sometimes become too complicated for surgical repair. Presented here is the case of a patient with...
متن کاملLong-term results of large diameter hepaticojejunostomy for treatment of Bile Duct Injuries following cholecystectomy.
OBJECTIVE Bile Duct Injury (BDI) is one of the most serious complications of cholecystectomy. The authors analyzed the clinical presentation, surgical management and long-term outcome of 19 patients presenting with iatrogenic major BDIs (Straburg type E) following cholecystectomy who underwent Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy. MATERIAL AND METHOD Between 1992 and 2005, 19 patients with major BDI...
متن کاملMultiple metal stenting using a double-balloon endoscope for malignant biliary obstruction in a patient with hepaticojejunostomy.
Endoscopic management of malignant biliary obstruction following hepaticojejunostomy can be challenging. With the advent of the short double-balloon endoscope (DBE), therapeutic biliary interventions are possible in surgically altered anatomy [1,2]. Additionally, a novel uncoveredmetal stent (UMS) has been developed with a 200-cm-long, 6-Fr delivery system (Zilver 635; Cook Medical, Winston-Sal...
متن کاملTemporary Trans-jejunal Hepatic Duct Stenting in Roux-en-y Hepaticojejunostomy for Reconstruction of Iatrogenic Bile Duct Injuries
BACKGROUND Bile Duct Injuries (BDI) during cholecystectomy are now being recognized as major health problems. OBJECTIVES Herein, we present our experience with handling major BDIs and report long-term outcome of hepaticojejunostomies followed by trans-jejunal hepatic duct stenting performed to reconstruct extra-hepatic biliary tracts. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this case series, we prospectiv...

This report describes antegrade electronic hydraulic lithotripsy (Lithotron EL 27; Walz Elektronik, Rohrdorf, Germany) using a digital peroral cholangioscope (SpyGlass DS System; Boston Scientific, Marlborough, Massachusetts, USA) [1, 2] through an endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided hepaticojejunostomy route for common bile duct (CBD) stones (▶Video1). A 77-year-old man, who underwent total gas...
